Diffraction of wave is described by Huygens' principle.

Diffraction refers to the ability of waves to bend around corners. This can be understood in terms of Huygen's principle, in which all points on a given wavefront are taken as point sources for the production of radiating wavelets. Huygen's principle is helpful to understanding diffraction.
