Module 8 Conceptual Integration
-
Start holding yourself responsible for everything
Physics, general chemistry, and organic chemistry are nearly in the harbor in content review. In physics, we still have content from electricity & magnetism, light & optics, and nuclear physics remaining, which we will cover in modules 11 and 13. In chemistry, only redox & electrochemistry has not yet received its focused treatment in the video course, but redox has received a great deal of priming in the context of other topics. Redox has probably been a subject of discussion more than fifty times so far. You already have a pretty good feel for redox. The organic mechanisms are done. Only molecular spectroscopy remains from organic chemistry.
With regard to biochemistry, we're nearing the transition from proteins to pathways, so we are almost half-way through biochemistry. With regard to molecular cell biology, which won't be covered in the video course until module 14, we have already made good progress through biology cycle work in Lippincott and Kaplan/TBR. You are coming to have a pretty decent game in molecular biology. The only big thing remaining is the physiology. We will pre-cycle physiology starting in module 12 and we will close the circle in module 15. Physiology is one area where we have not yet started serious work in the course schedule. The new MCAT isn't so brutal about physiology to tell you the truth.
The point is that you a great deal now in the harbor, and much of what has not yet been covered in topical review has been pre-studied or it has received a great deal of priming in the context of other subjects in the video course. This is true except for physiology and a few topics in the physics.
In this module, we're beginning work in the question packs at AAMC Prep Hub. After the question packs, work in section bank begins in module 12. The question packs and section bank hold you responsible for everything. Hold yourself responsible for everything now. Internalizing this mindset now is a key to success when we begin full-length practice tests. You will miss questions in the question packs and section bank. Don't let yourself off the hook. Study what you miss and learn from it. There will be gaps in your knowledge base, but your knowledge-base is a complete structure. What you don't know isn't a foggy region extending over the horizon. Those are just a few neighborhoods within the boundaries of the city that are left to be fully explored.
