Module 11 - Implied premises and warrants

  • What's left unsaid

Often the validity of a proposition will depend on factors that aren't explicit in the writing. It may be an unspoken premise, or it may be factors that go towards the quality or relevance of a piece of evidence used to justify an inference. In this module's CARS lesson, we explore how to look beyond propositions for their implications, developing a set of skills for "reasoning beyond the text" in the CARS section.
